Reheat rice only once, until piping hot all the way through (steaming, at least 75°C). Add a splash of water to keep it moist, and never reheat rice more than once.
In the microwave
- Put the rice in a microwave-safe bowl and break up any clumps.
- Add a tablespoon of water per portion and cover loosely.
- Heat in short bursts, stirring between each, until piping hot throughout (steaming).
In a pan
- Add the rice to a pan with a splash of water.
- Heat over a medium heat, stirring, until steaming hot all the way through.
Food safety: Only reheat rice that was cooled quickly and stored in the fridge for no more than a day (or frozen). Reheat once only — never a second time — and make sure it's piping hot before serving.
